Great Lives
108 Lives and an Unfinished Kingdom of Ends
A philosophical narrative told through particular lives: how people become themselves, build worlds, meet the limits of what they have built, and leave room—or fail to leave room—for another.
What this series is
Not a hall of fame. Not 108 final verdicts.
These essays ask how a person becomes their own within an inherited world, what kind of world they build, and whether that world leaves room for someone who does not fit its definitions.
As the series unfolds, a bridge comes into view. Beyond it lies not Kant’s solitary ideal but a gathering: an unfinished Kingdom of Ends. The final place is left not for another famous name, but for the reader who is still choosing.

The complete work
Read the story—or enter through a name.
From Laozi to Jesus: when inherited answers are no longer enough, how does a person find a direction of their own without making it everyone else’s law?
Theorems, empires, sciences, music, and poetry: what people build often outlives them—and reveals cracks its makers could not see.
When the World Pushes Back无意识、制度、权力、信仰与语言进入人的内部。 The unconscious, institutions, power, faith, and language enter the person. Some are consumed; others preserve a place that cannot be replaced.
From voice becoming text to form, causation, will, computation, and existence: every boundary clarifies the world while leaving something outside.
Work That Outlives a Life手、光、火、梦、颜色与制度。 Hands, light, fire, dreams, color, and institutions. What matters is not only what a person made, but what the work keeps doing after its maker is gone.
From “only the articulable counts as knowledge” to “the inarticulate is knowledge’s ground”: knowing becomes not a closed verdict but a cycle that reopens.
The Other and the Empty Seat十二种为他者留下位置的语言,最终汇入桥上的空位。 Twelve languages for leaving room for another converge on the bridge’s empty seat. It is awarded to no famous name; it appears whenever someone treats self and other as ends. 12 lives 篇
The unfinished ending
“Around Kant, there is one empty seat.”
It asks for no greatness, remembrance, book, or monument—only the recurring work of treating oneself as an end and another person as an end. The seat remains empty because no living person receives it once and for all.
