Reading Black Myth: Wukong

Four essays on a silent Destined One, Wukong’s scattered six roots, Yellowbrow’s manufactured proof of human nature, and the circlet that stops before an opened pair of eyes.

Black Myth: Wukong begins after the canonical reward. Sun Wukong has received the highest title the Buddhist order can confer, then abandons it. A nameless successor is sent to recover what remains of him while gods, monsters, guides, and archives explain what the journey means.

The essays distinguish explicit plot from interpretation. The game leaves motives and alliances deliberately incomplete; that incompleteness is part of its question about whether the Destined One is becoming a self or being assembled into a role.
