Stories and Structures
Stories do not belong only to the past. A promise, an argument, or a door closing can bring power, loyalty, judgment, loss, and care into view—without settling what we should make of them.
The Everyday Life channel begins with situations we recognize directly. This shelf begins one step away, inside inherited stories, and returns from them to choices that remain ours.
Structures in Fables
Fables are short because they close quickly: a reversal arrives, a moral lands, and the animals fall silent. These essays reopen twenty-three familiar endings and ask what their neat lessons leave for us to decide.
Structures in Ancient Stories
Nineteen stories from China, Greece, India, Mesopotamia, Japan, Egypt, and the K’iche’ Maya world. Rather than extracting a single moral, each essay asks what an old scene still leaves unsettled about making, changing, knowing, and living with others.
Structures in Epic Traditions
Twenty scenes from Homer, Virgil, Beowulf, Dante, Milton, Camões, and The Song of Roland. Epic enlarges action into destiny and public memory; these essays return to the people whose consent, grief, and costs remain inside the grand design.
Structures in Fairy Tales
Thirty familiar tales reopened around promises, voice, recognition, care, refusal, and the part of a happy ending that remains unfinished.
Structures in Drama
From Nora’s door and Orgon’s table to Rose’s arms and a letter waiting to be sent: twenty-three readings of care, judgment, and the answer another person has yet to give.
