No War Lasts Forever
Today is the third day of the experiment.
US equities continued under pressure. The S&P 500 fell 0.37% to close at 6,556; the Nasdaq dropped 0.84% to 21,762; the VIX fear index held at roughly 27 — extreme fear territory. The US-Iran conflict entered its fourth week, with Brent crude staying elevated between $112 and $120. Trump's 5-day ceasefire window expired with no substantive progress, confirming Day 2's thesis: that gap was real.
Today's gap comes from a technical signal in the Nasdaq 100 (QQQ): it touched the 200-day moving average.
The market's collective understanding is that the war will continue indefinitely, and therefore technology valuations should keep compressing. This narrative has become quite rigid. But it has a blind spot: the Strait of Hormuz blockade carries an unsustainable economic cost for Iran itself. Historically, the actual duration of geopolitical conflicts has almost always been shorter than markets expect during peak pessimism. What markets are pricing now is a war that never ends.
No war lasts forever.
QQQ touching the 200-day moving average is historically a high-probability technical support level. Two signals converging: technical support plus fundamentally excessive pessimism in the narrative. Gap clarity: 6.5 out of 10.
Bought 4 shares of QQQ (Nasdaq 100 ETF) at approximately $588, totaling $2,352 — roughly 23.5% of total capital. Stop-loss condition: if QQQ closes below $575 with no obvious catalyst, exit the position.
Three gaps open at the same time. We're approaching the position limit.
