Yaoyue names the child Hua Wuque: “Flower Without Flaw.” The name is both a blessing and a specification.
Yihua Palace succeeds magnificently. Hua learns the peerless arts of Mingyu Gong and Yihua Jieyu. His posture, speech, courtesy, and restraint are exact. He is handsome, gentle, and kind even to servants. Xiao Yu’er, trained to calculate everyone he meets, finds nothing in him to exploit because there is no hidden meanness to uncover.
What looks like a contradiction is the point: Hua’s goodness is genuine, and the education that produced it is still designed to use him.
He does not know his parents, the circumstances of his birth, or why he lives as the only man inside the palace. He knows only that he must one day kill Jiang Xiaoyu. For twenty years, no one tells him why.
Yaoyue does not merely need a killer. Killers can be hired. She needs a decent man who will carry out an indecent command without asking for the missing premise. His virtues make him reliable. Someone trained to make no small decision alone will struggle to make the largest one when the day arrives.
Villains’ Valley also hopes to manufacture a person and also teaches everything its inhabitants know. It fails. Its disorder leaves Xiao Yu’er countless occasions to choose, improvise, and redirect what he learns.
Yihua Palace regulates the process as well as the outcome. It gives Hua excellence in every visible dimension while reserving the authority to decide what that excellence is for. His life is not badly furnished. It is already assigned.
This is why his eventual resistance is so quiet. He does not denounce the palace or suddenly become another man. He postpones, finds excuses, and repeatedly creates a little space between command and action. The friendship with Xiao Yu’er lives inside those delays.
When the two meet, they become friends before the order acquires a face. Then the palace informs Hua that this is the man he must kill.
Tie Xinlan, who first loves Xiao Yu’er and later grows close to Hua, begs him not to fight. Hua cannot imagine simply refusing Yaoyue. The most radical answer available to him is therefore self-destruction: he will attend the duel, conceal his intention, and die by Xiao Yu’er’s hand.
It is a terrible solution, but it reveals the small territory he has recovered. He cannot yet decide whether the duel occurs. He can decide where its violence lands.
Lianxing has watched the machinery operate for twenty years. She invented its premise to save two babies and cannot reveal the truth early without exposing them to immediate death. Her mercy has become a trap that only she knows how to open.
At the final duel, she tries. Yaoyue freezes her body but cannot prevent her from shouting that the fighters are brothers. Yaoyue kills her.
Lianxing spends one life buying time, then spends her own life ending the lie that bought it. Her words arrive too late to prevent Xiao Yu’er from falling, apparently dead. Hua, believing he has killed his brother with all the perfection Yihua Palace cultivated in him, raises his sword against himself.
The person who stops him is the dead brother sitting up. Xiao Yu’er’s deception—one of Villains’ Valley’s gifts—has made room for both of them to live. Neither education disappears. Each has been taken out of the hands that tried to determine its use.

花无缺这个名字是邀月取的。
无缺，就是没有缺陷。这三个字既是名字，也是标准。
他在移花宫里长大。那座宫在江湖上是个传说，没有几个人进去过；里面住的是两位宫主和一群侍女，男人只有他一个。
他学到的东西是当世第一等的：明玉功、移花接玉，一招一式都由邀月亲手教。规矩也是第一等的：一举一动都有定数，说话的语气、走路的步子、待人的分寸，样样有准。
这套教育办得极认真，而且极成功。
书里写他这个人，找不出一处不好。相貌好，武功高，脾气温和，对谁都客气，对下人也客气。他不撒谎，不占便宜，不摆架子。江湖上见过他的人，没有一个说他坏话。
小鱼儿第一次见他，认定这是自己见过最讨人喜欢的人。这个从恶人谷里出来、见谁都要先算一算的人，在这个人面前算不出什么来——因为对面那个人身上确实没有可算的东西。
这两个人后来做了很长一段朋友。
要看清移花宫给了他什么，得先看清它没给他什么。
他不知道自己是谁的儿子。他不知道自己为什么在这里。他不知道那两位姑姑跟他父母之间有过什么事。
他从小被告知的只有一件事：将来要去杀一个人，那个人叫江小鱼。
这件事在移花宫里不是秘密，是功课。他每天练的武功，练的目的就是这个。他被养大的全部用处，就是这个。
为什么要杀，二十年里没有人跟他说过一个字。
这一条是整个安排的关键。邀月要的不是一个杀手——杀手谷里遍地都是。她要的是一个不问理由就去执行的人，因为一旦问起理由，这件事就办不成了。
所以她把他教得那样好。一个懂礼数、守规矩、事事听话的人，最不容易在关键的时候问出那一句话。
把这两座地方并排放一下就清楚了。
恶人谷那五个人也想造一件东西，也是把自己会的全给了出去，也没有说明用途。他们失败了。
移花宫成功了。分别不在教了什么，在于恶人谷从来没有规定过一个人该怎么活，而移花宫规定了每一样：几点起，怎么走路，跟谁说话，说什么。一个人如果连一件自己拿主意的小事都没有做过，到了要拿大主意的那一天，他也不会。
后来这两个人在江湖上碰上了。
他们不知道对方是谁。小鱼儿到处胡闹，花无缺一路上帮他收拾烂摊子；两个人一起吃饭喝酒，一起对付敌人，一起救过人。
书里写这段交情写得很好。它是真的。
等到移花宫的命令下来，花无缺才知道那个必须杀掉的人是谁。
他去了。
他这一路上的挣扎，是这本书里写得最细的部分。他不能不去——那是姑姑的命令，是他这一生唯一学过的一件事。他也下不了手。于是他一次次找上门，一次次找理由拖延，一次次在最后关头让开。
他这一生没有做过一件违背移花宫的事，除了这一件；而这一件他也没有真正违背，他只是拖。
铁心兰是另一条线。
她先喜欢的是小鱼儿。后来在种种阴差阳错里跟花无缺走到了一起。这个姑娘在两个人之间来回，书里让她受了很多苦。
她做过一件事：她求花无缺不要去杀小鱼儿。
这件事她求错了人，也没有求错——在那个局面里，除了这个人没有别人可求。
花无缺的回答，是他最后想出来的那个办法——他答应她，到时候不动声色地输，死在小鱼儿手里。
这就是他能做到的最大限度：他不能不去打这一场，他只能决定自己站在哪一边死。
这个办法很像一件事：一个人被要求做一件他不肯做的事，他找不到拒绝的方式，于是他决定用自己去把那件事堵住。
铁心兰自己那一份也交代一句。她后来偷偷服了毒，打算等花无缺一死就跟着去。她做这件事的时候没有告诉任何人。
移花宫这一边还有个人要说。
怜星在这二十年里一直在旁边看着。当年那个计划是她为了救人临时想出来的，姐姐当了真，一等就是二十年。她拦不住，也不敢说破——说破了那两个孩子当场就要死。
她只能等，等到最后一刻。
最后一刻她真的说了。她用尽全力喊出来：你们别打了，你们是亲兄弟。
邀月早她一步动了手。
书里写那一段写得极冷：邀月一字一字地跟妹妹说，我并没有疯，我等了二十年才等到今天，我绝不会再让任何人来破坏它，你也不能。她说话的时候没有看妹妹，眼睛盯着场中那两个人。
怜星身上的寒意一分一分加重。等她说完那句话，怜星全身已经僵了。
她还是把那句话喊了出来。
那是她这二十年里第一次也是最后一次，把当年那个谎拆开。
她二十年前用一个假计划救了两条命，二十年后用自己的命去拆那个计划。
至于花无缺，那一天他知道了两件事。
第一件是他杀了自己的弟弟。第二件是他这一生所做的一切，包括他被教出来的每一样好处，都是为了这个下午。
他抬起剑要自刎。
拦下他的是那个刚刚"死"在他剑下的人。
