The first human colonists found energy beings already living on the planet and named them rakashas—demons from the colonists' own religious storehouse. Sam helped confine them in the Hellwell.
When he rebels against Heaven, he returns to negotiate with the beings he once helped imprison.
The rakashas do not inhabit fixed bodies or build cities humans recognize. Their ability to enter minds can be dangerous. None of this proves the planet was empty before the colony arrived.
The name places complex beings into a story of cosmic threat. Human confinement becomes protection of the world; resistance to confinement confirms demonic nature.
Specific possession can be stopped without declaring an entire kind of life permanently outside negotiation. A less loaded account begins with arrivals entering an inhabited world and a conflict over bodies, space, and safety—not gods cleansing their rightful domain.
Sam's willingness to negotiate recognizes memory, leadership, and choice where the old order saw only monsters. It also arrives when rakasha power becomes useful to him.
Freedom offered only in exchange for military service turns a prison into a recruiting office. Repair begins by admitting the confinement exceeded any immediate defense, then negotiating safety without assuming the released must choose Sam's side.
The rakashas are not innocent by origin. Taraka takes Sam's body without free permission and discovers human sensation through an invasion. Being colonized explains distrust; it does not make another person's body compensation.
Nirriti's army threatens the entire planet, pushing Sam and former gods into a shared battle. Yama's science, old divine powers, rebel organization, and uneasy allies all contribute to victory. No faction can honestly claim to have saved everyone alone.
The alliance is worth making because the threat is real. It cannot erase Heaven's centuries of controlled rebirth, Sam's role in imprisoning native life, or the danger of Yama's inventions. Wartime usefulness is not retrospective innocence.
Victory turns when technology is opened and the old divine monopoly ends. Sam leaves; Yama eventually goes too. Their departure is not proof that the planet has solved power, but it prevents one successful commander from becoming the only future. Gods and demons return to history as fallible participants. The world grows freer when nobody's name—Brahma, Buddha, or rakasha—can finish what the named being is allowed to become.

只有参战才获自由，会把监狱改造成征兵站。修复应先承认囚禁早已超出眼前防卫需要，再商量共同安全，而不预设获释者必须站在山姆一边。
罗刹也不会因原住地位自动无辜。多罗迦未经自由许可占据山姆身体，通过入侵发现人类感觉。被殖民经历可以解释不信任，却不能把另一具身体变成补偿。
尼利蒂的军队威胁整颗星球，迫使山姆与昔日诸神并肩。阎摩的科学、旧神力量、反抗组织与不安盟友共同形成胜利，没有哪一派能够诚实宣布自己单独拯救所有人。
